Jacketed Sanitary Hose

ASHFLEX® Jacketed Hose is a custom-engineered flexible assembly consisting of two concentric hoses. The inner core carries the main process fluid, while the outer jacket circulates a heating or cooling medium to maintain the required product temperature during transfer.

It is ideal for viscous, temperature-sensitive or solidifying products such as bitumen, asphalt, molten sulphur, wax, resins, polymers, adhesives, chocolate and syrup. Compared with rigid jacketed piping, the flexible construction better accommodates movement, vibration and installations in confined spaces.

Typical Hose Construction

  • Inner Core Hose: Corrugated stainless steel or PTFE-lined hose selected according to the process medium, temperature and pressure
  • Outer Jacket: Corrugated stainless steel hose surrounding the inner core
  • Reinforcement: Stainless steel wire braid for pressure strength and mechanical protection
  • Heating Medium: Steam, hot oil or hot water
  • Cooling Medium: Water or compatible industrial coolant
  • Main Connections: Welded, threaded, flanged or other customised process connections
  • Jacket Connections: Separate inlet and outlet ports for heating or cooling-medium circulation
  • Materials: Stainless steel 304 or 316 options available
  • Pressure and Temperature: Custom-engineered according to the process and jacket requirements
  • Assembly Length: Manufactured according to the required installation dimensions

Key Features

✅ Two concentric hose construction
✅ Maintains the required process-fluid temperature
✅ Helps prevent clogging and product solidification
✅ Suitable for heating or cooling service
✅ Flexible alternative to rigid jacketed piping
✅ Accommodates movement and vibration
✅ Stainless steel or PTFE inner-core options
✅ Separate jacket inlet and outlet connections
✅ Custom pressure, temperature and fitting configurations
✅ Complete engineered assemblies available

Typical Applications

  • Bitumen and asphalt transfer
  • Molten sulphur handling
  • Hot-melt adhesives
  • Wax and polymer transfer
  • Resins and viscous chemicals
  • Chocolate, syrup and edible-oil processing
  • Chemical and petrochemical plants
  • Tanker loading and unloading
  • Heated process-fluid transfer
  • Temperature-controlled manufacturing systems

Main Advantages

  • Maintains continuous flow of viscous or solidifying media
  • Reduces blockage and production downtime
  • Provides heating or cooling along the hose length
  • Allows installation in confined or difficult spaces
  • Accommodates equipment movement and vibration
  • Customisable according to media compatibility
  • Available with different fittings, flanges and materials
  • Core and jacket can be engineered for separate operating conditions

Engineering Note: The inner core and outer jacket operate as two separate pressure systems. Their maximum working pressures, temperatures and media compatibility must be independently confirmed during hose selection.

Safety Notice: Steam and hot-oil jacket systems can cause severe burns and thermal hazards. The system must include suitable pressure control, insulation, drainage and expansion provisions. Installation and operation should only be performed by trained personnel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is an ASHFLEX Jacketed Hose used for?
A: An ASHFLEX® Jacketed Hose transfers a process fluid through its inner core while circulating steam, hot oil, hot water or coolant through the outer jacket to maintain the required temperature.

Q: What products can be transferred through a Jacketed Hose?
A: Common products include bitumen, asphalt, molten sulphur, wax, resins, polymers, adhesives, chocolate, syrups and other viscous or temperature-sensitive materials. Compatibility must be confirmed before selection.

Q: What is the difference between the core hose and the outer jacket?
A: The inner core carries the main product, while the outer jacket carries a separate heating or cooling medium. Each circuit has its own inlet, outlet, pressure and temperature requirements.

Q: Can Ash Hose manufacture a customised Jacketed Hose assembly?
A: Yes. We can customise the inner-core material, stainless steel grade, assembly length, pressure rating, temperature rating, main end connections and jacket inlet and outlet fittings.

Q: How do I request a quotation for a Jacketed Hose?
A: Please provide the process medium, heating or cooling medium, core and jacket pressures, operating temperatures, hose size, overall length, end connections, jacket-port sizes, quantity and delivery location.
